Book Description:
Sterling, a half-breed vampire who works with a covert team of vampires to protect the President of the United States, is the weakest link in the chain for his team, and he knows it. He is an emotionally broken individual with no standing in the vampire world, who works in the human world, and really has no place in either.
He has a unique ability to glean information from inanimate objects, and his life is kind of like CSI meets the West Wing, where key positions are held by vampires. Vampires can alter their age based on the amount of blood they consume, which should allow Sterling to blend into human society, however his ability has painful side effects that cause him to live a lonely life down in the evidence room at FBI headquarters. His current case involves the kidnapping of vampire children and he teams up with a pure-bred vampire, Kate, who is the nanny of one of the kids. Would Kate ever consider a relationship with a half-breed who is constantly in pain? Insecure in his own ability to woo the lovely Kate, he travels across the country on a journey of self discovery where he realizes he is a person of value, truly deserving of love, forgiveness and happiness.
Kate has led a sheltered life and is considered handicapped by vampire standards since her vampire ability has horrific side effects. She believes that she is unworthy of a full-filling, mature relationship. She creates a symbiotic relationship with Sterling, who helps her to discover that she is able to have a normal life, with all the joys and sorrows that it brings.

My Review of "The Stone Protector"

The Stone Protector
Keepers of the Flame #1
Melissa F. Hart

Key Points:

*Beautiful, eye-catching cover that drew me in and made me hit the "buy" button.

*It's fantasy-based erotica that I'm truly interested in exploring right now.

*The idea for the plot was wonderful. I would have loved to read it if it were fledged out properly, but it wasn't. Not even close.

*How is an immortal vampire born and then ages like a normal human being? At some point does their visible age slow? The author hinted at this, but I think it needed to be explained better. It sounds ridiculous as it stands.

*The fight scenes flew by too fast, and were hard to follow. They needed fledged out more.

*I'm not sure how this classifies as erotica. There wasn't a single thing erotic about it. It felt more like poorly written young adult to me.

My Rating: 2 out of 5 stars

Author's Description:

A few months to her 17th birthday, Luanne Kylor begins to experience weird attacks. When she’s almost killed at a shopping mall, her grandmother decides that enough is enough and hires a bodyguard. Even though she’s immediately attracted to Dylan, a bodyguard is the last thing she needs as she’s trying desperately to blend in.

What most people don’t know is that Luanne belongs to a family of vampires. But not just any vampires; they are known as the BORN breed because they were born into their heritage. They are a sort of vampire evolution and Dylan is a member of the Protector Order of the BORN breed.

Forging a tentative bond, Luanne and Dylan come together and both face those that have been haunting Luanne for over four years. They had murdered her entire family and now they’re after her. Survival has suddenly turned into a very dangerous game. Will Dylan succeed in saving her or will she have to look inward and find the strength to save herself? What is her connection to the stone in the pendant around her neck?

My Review of "Forbidden Fruit"

Forbidden Fruit
Selena Kitt

Author's Warning:
Note to readers: This story appeared in another, now rather infamous book of mine (UNDER MR. NOLAN'S BED). Previously titled Plaid Skirt Confessions, this tale is a slightly less naughty, but no less sexy re-telling of those events--updated and redressed for your reading pleasure with an ending that may leave you a little more satisfied.

I received a copy of this book for free via NetGalley.

In my quest to explore the Erotica genre, I've been picking up a wide array of  different types of stories to read. This book was one that promised to be an extremely naughty selection, and it didn't disappoint.

It was one helluva ride. The sex never seemed to stop, and I was shocked at how well the plot grew and progressed through all of the massive amounts of sex in the book. The characters were continuously evolving.

I admire the author's ability to keep me entertained and turning pages from cover to cover in one sitting.

My complaints:

Because there was SO MUCH sex in this book, I found it to get a little repetitive, and verging on tedious at some points. I found myself skimming at times, though the plot had me keep turning pages.

I would have liked a little better characterization. The girls felt like they were acting and being treated like they were sixteen ... not adults ... which made some of it seem a little too naughty.

Overall:

It is 70% of what I would look for in an erotic story. I wish they would have stopped to breathe more between sex scenes, but the author kept me turning pages, so I guess she accomplished what she set out to do.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Author's Description:

Leah and Erica have been best friends and have gone to the same Catholic school since just about forever. Leah spends so much time with the Nolans—just Erica and her handsome father now, since Erica’s mother died—that she’s practically part of the family. When the girls find something naughty under Mr. Nolan’s bed, their strict, repressive upbringing makes it all the more exciting as they begin their sexual experimentation. Leah’s exploration presses deeper, and eventually she finds herself in love for the first time, torn between her best friend and her best friend’s father.

My Review of Kaleb

Kaleb
Nicole Edwards

Kaleb is an erotica story. The bigger plot includes seven brothers, but this book just focuses on Kaleb and his lust for Zoey.

Key Points:

*I felt that in a general sense it was a decent book.

*The sex scenes were okay ... not incredible by any means. Without them, though, the book would have been a complete dud. They were the cohesion of the story.

*The plot was way too loosely strung for me to really care too much about it.

*Kaleb and Zoey are adults and have wanted each other for a long long time. I find it hard to believe that Zoey was such an amateur and had never really experimented with sex in her life ... at all.

*I read the kindle addition. It drove me mad how every single sentence that ended in a quotation used a comma at the end of the sentence instead of a period.

Will I read more of these books? No
Will I recommend it to other people? Not likely. It wasn't remarkable in any way.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Author's Description:

Zoey Stranford might’ve had a crush on the sexy boy next door since middle school, but she’s a woman now, and that crush has turned into a full blown case of lust. So why is it that at twenty nine, her libido decides to ramp into high gear and the only thing she can focus on is the intensely sexy, scorching hot boy next door who is definitely not a boy anymore?

The only problem is that Zoey and Kaleb have been best friends for as long as she can remember. Not to mention, Kaleb and his brothers are working on buying Stranford land to build a new resort, and she’s more than a little hesitant about his intentions.

Kaleb Walker has had his eye on Zoey for close to twenty years, but never before has he considered taking their friendship to the next level, no matter how many fantasies he’s had about her over the years. That doesn’t explain why Kaleb is hell bent on having her – in as many ways as possible.

Kaleb finds himself in a precarious situation. His brothers have nominated him to pursue Zoey’s father about purchasing the land needed to get their new resort off the ground. Finding out that Carl Stranford is on the brink of foreclosure and Zoey might just lose her house and the land, Kaleb now has to convince her to put aside her pride and let him help her.

It doesn’t take long before the flames start burning bright and hot, and the two of them burn up the nights and the days as they explore each other’s forbidden fantasies. But can their friendship survive a business transaction or the new friends with benefits clause? Or will they realize that they’ve been overlooking something much deeper that’s been right in front of them all along?

Warning: This book contains sexual encounters and graphic language that some readers may find objectionable, including, but not limited to m/f/m encounters, anal sex, exhibitionism, and voyeurism. Consider yourself warned! Contains graphic material that is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

My Review of "The Fallen Star"

The Fallen Star
Fallen Star #1
Jessica Sorensen

I just have to say that this book sucked me in. I was enthralled through to the end. While I found the overall story to be absolutely amazing, I did have a few problems with it.

Likes:
*The neutrality that Laylen brings to the group. He is a new and intriguing addition to the cast.

*The constant flow of action kept me on my toes.

*I love how well the visions were described and planned. They really helped build up the story.

Frustrations:

*There were quite a few formatting errors in the kindle edition. That is really distracting.

*Adding on paranormal species after paranormal species kind of made the book harder and harder to believe. The second that vampires were mentioned, it made the book feel like the author was stretching my imagination too far. Then she added the sword ...

*Seriously, why would Gemma get into the car of a boy that acts like a complete and utter jackass to her and let him drive her off into the mountains?

In general, I felt like it was well worth my time. I did continue on to read all four books. They kept me on my toes.

This is a perma-free kindle title. It's definitely worth checking out.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

For the entire series: 3 - simply because I felt like the formatting errors just kept getting worse as the books progressed.

Author's Book Description:

For eighteen year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. Up until recently, she has been incapable of feeling emotion. And when she's around Alex, the gorgeous new guy at school, she can feel electricity that makes her skin buzz. Not to mention the monsters that haunt her nightmares have crossed over into real-life. But with Alex seeming to hate her and secrets popping up everywhere, Gemma's life is turning into a chaotic mess. Things that shouldn't be real suddenly seem to exist. And as her world falls apart, figuring out the secrets of her past becomes a matter of life and death.

My Review of "The Death of Me"

The Death of Me
A Memoir
Denise Grover Swank

Denise went through a horrifying event that rocked her entire world. In this memoir she describes the events and emotions she felt in the year after her husband crashed his plain. When I sat down to read this, it amazed me that Denise would let us get a glimpse of what her life was like in such a painful situation. I can't imagine how she felt, but I do know that this book brought me to tears.

I absolutely recommend this memoir to anyone who has lived through the tragedy of losing someone they love, or someone who knows someone. It really helps to get a better picture of what they must be going through. On top of being such a heart wrenching story, it is extremely well written. Glimpses of happy memories were scattered throughout the memories of tragedy.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Author's Description:
On January 29, 2006, Denise Grover Swank’s life changed forever.

On that afternoon, her husband of ten years crash-landed his malfunctioning single-engine plane in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Dr. Darrell Swank suffered multiple fractures, and third degree burns over sixty percent of his body when the gas tank exploded as he crawled away from the wreckage.

Over the next five weeks, she struggled to be a mother to their children while she kept a near round-the-clock vigil at the hospital. Darrell’s survival was questionable from one day to the next, and even if he survived, would he be the same man he was before the crash? Did his fate depend on this test of her faith?

The Death of Me is the true story of a wife and mother living day to day through a fog of shock and unimaginable agony. And, alone in the aftermath, fumbling for some way to not only survive, but to thrive.

It is a story of pain, of release, of forgiveness. And of healing, resilience, and rebirth.

It is a story of a writer finding her voice.

My Review of "Shine"

Shine
Author: Justine Edward
Illustrated: Karl Gabriel

I found this children's picture book to be wonderfully inspirational. The art was created by Karl Gabriel, who has autism. I thought that was a fantastic idea considering how well crafted the poetry of the book is. I absolutely recommend this book for parents to read to their children.

On top of that, Justine Edward is a thoughtful and caring human being who promotes awareness for autism on a daily basis.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Description:
From the moment he laid eyes on Emmy Westerly, Nathaniel wanted her in his life. He would have done anything to get her there and keep her there. Nathaniel found himself quickly pulled into Emmy’s dark world of whips and blindfolds, kink and submission, intrigued by the not only the thrill of it, but by the enigma that led Emmy there as well.

Emmy couldn’t resist Nathaniel Walsh. She couldn’t deny the electricity between them, the utter animal magnetism she felt for him. Emmy was mystified by someone as honest and uncomplicated as Nathaniel allowing her to lead him into the dark. She adored having him at the end of her lash.

But Emmy had secrets - deep, cruel truths - that had lead her to Club Imperial, and staying with Nathaniel would mean telling him everything. He wasn't ready for that.

Neither was she.
